Ultimax Cement Corporation:

Ultimax Cement Corp., a California corporation, was established in 1990, primarily to exploit the rights for patent # 4,957,556, a rapid hardening cement. This patent, owned by Ultimax Corp., is for Very Early Setting Ultra High Early Strength Cement in the United States, Canada and the World.

Production:

Currently, Qwix® is being produced at our licensee, Buzzi Unicem USA, in Independence, Kansas.

The first production in the United States was conducted in 1995 at the Southdown-Kosmos Plant in Pittsburgh, PA. The Pittsburgh production used a wet process with a quantity of 25,000 tons being produced. Another production was completed in 1996 in Tunisia, with a quantity of 65,000 tons Ultimax® Cement being produced. In early 1998, 120,000 tons of Ultimax® Cement was produced in Mexico.
